How to Add B-Roll in VN Video Editor?

To add B-roll in VN Video Editor, follow these steps.

1. Open VN Video Editor

Start by opening the VN Video Editor app on your device. If you haven’t installed it yet, download it from your app store. Once it’s open, you’ll be greeted by the home screen where you can either create a new project or open an existing one.

2. Create or Open a Project

To begin editing, tap the “+” button on the main screen to create a new project. You’ll be prompted to select the aspect ratio and video resolution for your project. Afterward, you can choose your main footage (the primary video clip you want to work with) from your gallery or media library. If you’re adding B-roll to an existing project, simply open the project and proceed to the next step.

3. Add the Main Clip

Once inside your project, you need to add the main video clip to the timeline. This is the primary content you will be working with. Tap the “Add Clip” button, then browse your video library to select the video you want to use as the main clip. Once selected, the video will appear on the timeline, ready for further editing.

4. Add B-roll Footage

Now, to add B-roll, tap the “+” icon above your main video track on the timeline. This will open your media library again, allowing you to select the B-roll footage you want to include. B-roll clips are supplementary video clips that provide additional context or visual interest to support the main footage. These clips can be anything from a close-up shot, background footage, or extra scenes that help tell the story more effectively. Select the desired B-roll footage, and it will be added to the timeline.

5. Place the B-roll on the Timeline

Once the B-roll clip is added, you’ll need to position it on the timeline. Typically, B-roll is placed above the main video track in the timeline to create an overlay effect. Drag and drop the B-roll clip to the desired position on the timeline, ensuring it aligns with the section of the main video where you want the supplementary footage to appear. You can layer multiple B-roll clips for different segments of the video.

6. Adjust the B-roll

After placing the B-roll clip, you can make several adjustments to fit it perfectly into your project. First, you may need to trim the B-roll footage so that it only plays during the desired part of the main clip. To do this, tap and drag the edges of the B-roll clip in the timeline to adjust its duration. You can also resize, reposition, or crop the B-roll to highlight certain parts of the frame, especially if it’s a close-up or a detailed shot. If you want to use the B-roll as a picture-in-picture effect, you can resize it and move it to a corner of the screen, or adjust its opacity to create a more subtle overlay.

7. Add Transitions (Optional)

To ensure smooth transitions between the main clip and B-roll, consider adding transition effects. These effects make the change from the main video to the B-roll (or vice versa) feel natural and seamless. To add a transition, tap on the small icon located between two clips in the timeline. This will open the transition menu where you can choose from a variety of effects like fade, slide, dissolve, and others. Select the transition that works best for the style of your video. This step is optional but can help enhance the overall flow and professionalism of your video.

8. Final Adjustments

With your B-roll in place, it’s time for any final tweaks to ensure the audio and visuals blend well together. You can adjust the volume of the B-roll clip to make sure it doesn’t overpower the main audio. If your B-roll has its own sound or background noise, you may want to mute it or lower the volume. Additionally, you can change the speed of the B-roll clip (either slow motion or fast-forward) to match the pacing of the main video. Effects like color correction, brightness, and contrast can also be applied to make sure the B-roll footage matches the tone of the main video.

9. Export

After reviewing your project and ensuring the B-roll footage integrates well with the main clip, it’s time to export the video. Tap on the “Export” button, usually located in the top-right corner. Here, you can select the resolution, frame rate, and format for your final video. Once you’ve selected the settings that suit your needs, hit “Export” again, and the app will process the video. The export time depends on the length and complexity of the project, so once it’s done, you’ll have a video that includes your main footage and B-roll seamlessly.

By following these steps, you can successfully add B-roll to your videos in VN Video Editor, giving them more depth, interest, and context.
