How to Add Captions Text in Alight Motion Video?
To add captions or text in Alight Motion, follow these steps.
1. Open Alight Motion and Create or Open a Project
Begin by launching the Alight Motion app on your device. If you’re starting a new project, tap on the “+” icon to create a new project. You’ll be prompted to choose your project’s aspect ratio (such as 16:9 for YouTube, 9:16 for Instagram Stories, etc.). If you’re working with an existing project, simply tap on the project you want to edit from the home screen to open it.
2. Add a New Layer
To add text to your video, tap on the “+” icon once again. This opens the layer options. Choose the “Text” option from the list. A new text layer will be added to your timeline, and a text editing box will appear on the screen. This is where you’ll be able to enter the captions or any text you want to display in your video.
3. Type Your Caption
When the text box appears, tap inside it to start typing your desired caption or subtitle. You can add any text here, whether it’s a simple caption or more complex text like titles, descriptions, or comments. If you have multiple captions, you can add them one by one by repeating this step for each caption or text block. You can also copy and paste text if needed.
4. Customize the Text
Once you’ve entered your text, you’ll have options to customize it to fit your video’s style. You can adjust the font, size, color, and alignment by tapping on the text layer and then accessing the text editing options from the menu. Alight Motion provides a wide variety of fonts, or you can upload your own. To ensure the text fits the screen and is legible, you can resize and reposition it. You can also play around with the letter spacing, line height, and text effects like shadows or outlines to make the text stand out.
5. Animate the Text (Optional)
To make your captions more dynamic, you can animate them. Alight Motion allows you to add keyframe animations, which means you can set changes in the position, size, rotation, opacity, and more over time. For example, you can make the text fade in and out, slide across the screen, or have it appear in a typing animation. To do this, tap on the keyframe icon (diamond shape) next to the properties like position, opacity, or scale. Move the playhead to the point where you want the animation to start, adjust the properties, then set a keyframe. As you move the playhead forward, make the necessary changes, and another keyframe will automatically be created.
6. Preview and Adjust
Once you’ve added and customized your text, it’s time to preview how it looks in your video. Tap the play button to watch your video. If the text doesn’t appear at the right time or isn’t positioned correctly, you can go back and adjust the timing on the timeline. For example, you can drag the text layer’s edges to change how long it stays on the screen, or reposition it to align better with the video content.
7. Export
After you’ve added and finalized all of your captions, it’s time to export your project. Tap the export icon (a square with an arrow) at the top right corner of the screen. Here, you can adjust the export settings such as resolution, quality, and file format (typically MP4 for videos). Once you’ve chosen your export preferences, tap Export. The video will process and save to your device, ready to be shared or uploaded.
By following these steps, you can add and customize captions or text in Alight Motion to enhance your videos.
