How to Adjust Speed in Alight Motion?

To adjust the speed of a clip in Alight Motion, follow these steps.

1. Open the Project

To start adjusting the speed of a clip, you need to first open the project you are working on. Open Alight Motion and load the project by tapping on it in your project list. If you don’t have a project ready, you can create a new one by selecting the “New Project” option and adding your desired media.

2. Select the Clip

Once your project is open, find the clip or layer in the timeline that you want to modify. You can see all your video clips and other elements in the timeline at the bottom of the screen. Tap on the clip to select it. When the clip is selected, you’ll notice that it is highlighted, and additional options for editing will appear.

3. Open the Speed Controls

After selecting the clip, look at the bottom toolbar. You will find several editing options there, and one of them is related to time or speed. This is typically represented by an icon that looks like a speedometer or a “Time” icon. Tap this icon, and you will enter the speed adjustment interface, where you can change how fast or slow your clip plays.

4. Adjust the Speed

Once you have opened the speed control settings, you will see a slider that allows you to change the playback speed of the clip. Moving the slider to the right will increase the speed, causing the clip to play faster. Conversely, moving it to the left will slow the clip down. You can adjust the slider until you reach the desired speed for your clip. The more you increase the speed, the shorter the clip becomes, and the faster the video plays. On the other hand, slowing down the clip will make it last longer and play in slow motion.

Additionally, you can change the clip’s duration directly by dragging the ends of the clip on the timeline. This will also affect the speed. Shortening the clip makes it play faster, while lengthening it slows it down. This method gives you a simple way to manipulate the speed visually.

5. Preview and Apply

Once you’ve made your adjustments, it’s essential to preview the changes. Tap the play button to see how the clip now plays with the adjusted speed. You can continuously tweak the speed by adjusting the slider or the clip duration until it matches your vision. If you’re satisfied with the result, the changes will automatically apply. You can always fine-tune the speed again later if needed.

For more advanced adjustments, Alight Motion also allows you to use keyframes for speed changes over time, enabling you to create speed ramps or make the speed vary in different parts of the clip.

By following these steps, you can easily adjust the speed of any clip in your project and create dynamic, engaging effects!
