How to Blur Background in PicsArt?

To blur the background in PicsArt, follow these steps.

  1. Open the PicsArt App and Select Your Image
Start by launching the PicsArt app on your smartphone or tablet. Once it opens, tap on the “+” button or “Edit” to access your photo gallery. Choose the photo you want to edit and load it into the PicsArt editor. This will serve as the canvas for your editing work.
  2. Access the Blur Tool
After your image is loaded, navigate to the toolbar at the bottom of the screen. Scroll through the available options and select “Tools.” Within the tools menu, look for the “Blur” feature. This tool allows you to apply various blur effects to your image.
  3. Choose a Blur Effect
PicsArt offers multiple blur styles, such as Gaussian Blur, Motion Blur, and Smart Blur. For background blurring, “Lens Blur” or “Smart Blur” is often the best choice because they provide a natural depth-of-field effect, simulating the look of a professional camera. Tap on the effect you prefer to preview how it looks on your image.
  4. Adjust the Blur Intensity
Once you’ve selected a blur effect, a slider will appear on your screen. This slider controls the intensity of the blur. Move it to the right to increase the blur effect or to the left to reduce it. Experiment with the settings until you achieve a level of blur that suits your image.
  5. Mask the Area to Keep in Focus
To ensure only the background is blurred while keeping your subject sharp, you need to mask the subject. Tap on the “Eraser” or “Brush” tool within the Blur menu. Use the brush to paint over the subject (or area) you want to remain in focus. PicsArt may provide an “Auto Select” feature, which can automatically detect the subject for you. If available, this can save time and make the process easier.
  6. Refine the Edges
After masking the subject, zoom in to inspect the edges where the subject meets the background. Use a smaller brush size to refine these edges for a more seamless look. This step is crucial to make the effect look professional and natural. If there are areas where the blur overlaps onto the subject, use the eraser to correct it.
  7. Apply and Save
When you’re satisfied with the blurred background and how the subject looks, tap the “Apply” button to confirm your changes. Finally, save the edited photo to your device by tapping the download icon or “Save” option. You can also directly share your creation on social media platforms if desired.

This step-by-step process ensures that your background blur looks clean and professional, highlighting your subject and creating a visually appealing image.
