How to Change Background in PicsArt?
Changing the background in PicsArt is a simple process. Follow these steps.
1. Open PicsArt App:
To begin editing your image, launch the PicsArt app on your device. If you don’t have the app yet, you can download it from the App Store (for iOS) or Google Play Store (for Android). Once it’s installed, open the app to access the main editing screen.
2. Upload Your Image:
To change the background of your photo, you’ll first need to upload the image you want to edit. Tap the “+” (plus) icon, usually located at the bottom or top of the screen, to add your photo. From there, you can choose the image from your device’s gallery. Select the image you want to work with, and it will be displayed in the editing workspace.
3. Select Background Tool:
Once your image is loaded, you can begin removing the existing background. If you have PicsArt Gold (the paid version), you can tap “Remove Background,” and the app will automatically detect and remove the background for you. For those using the free version, you can manually remove the background using the “Cutout” tool. Tap on the “Tools” option and then select “Cutout.” You’ll be prompted to trace around the object you want to keep (usually the subject). Use the “Eraser” tool to clean up any areas that might have been incorrectly cut out. This can be a detailed process, depending on the complexity of the image.
4. Add New Background:
After removing the original background, it’s time to add a new one. PicsArt offers a variety of pre-made backgrounds you can use. To access these, tap on the “Backgrounds” option and browse through the available choices. If you prefer to use a custom background, tap “Add Photo” and select an image from your gallery. You can upload anything you want – whether it’s a scenic view, a colored backdrop, or a solid color. After choosing a background, it will be placed behind your subject in the photo.
5. Adjust the Subject:
Once the new background is added, the subject (the part you kept after removing the background) might need some adjustments. Tap on the “Move/Resize” tool to resize and position the subject on the new background. You can drag the subject around to place it where you want, and you can pinch to zoom in or out to scale the subject appropriately. Make sure the subject looks well-placed, so it fits naturally with the new background.
6. Refine Edges (Optional):
Sometimes, when changing a background, the edges of the subject may look rough or unnatural. To smooth them out and help your subject blend better with the new background, use the Blur or Shadow tool. The Blur tool can soften the edges of the subject, making it appear more natural in the new scene. The Shadow tool can add a shadow behind the subject, giving it more depth and realism, especially if the background has a specific light source. If needed, you can also use the Blend tool to merge the subject and background more seamlessly.
7. Save Your Work:
Once you are satisfied with your edited image, it’s time to save it. Tap the checkmark (usually located at the top of the screen) to apply all your changes. Then, to save the image to your device, tap “Download” or “Save to Gallery”. You can choose the resolution of the saved image, and once it’s done, your image with the new background will be stored in your gallery.
