How to Split a Video in Alight Motion?
To split a video in Alight Motion, follow these steps.
1. Open Alight Motion and Create/Open a Project
To begin, open the Alight Motion app on your mobile device. If you’re starting a new project, tap the “+” icon at the bottom of the screen to create a new project. You will be prompted to choose your desired project settings, such as resolution and frame rate. If you want to edit an existing project, simply select it from the list of your previous projects.
2. Import Your Video
Once your project is created or opened, you need to import the video you want to split. Tap the “+” icon again, this time on the timeline or the “Layer” section. From there, choose Video from the available media options. You can select the video from your gallery or storage. After selecting the video, it will be placed in the timeline as a new layer for you to edit.
3. Select the Video Layer
After the video is imported, it will appear as a layer in your timeline. Tap on the video layer in the timeline to select it. When the layer is selected, it will be highlighted, indicating that it is active for editing. This step is essential because it ensures that you are editing the correct video layer in the timeline.
4. Move the Playhead
The playhead is the vertical line that moves across the timeline, showing the current position of the video. To split the video at a specific point, you need to move the playhead to that position. You can drag the playhead by sliding it left or right along the timeline. Alternatively, you can tap on the timeline at the desired location to instantly position the playhead. Make sure to place the playhead exactly where you want to make the split.
5. Split the Video
Once the playhead is in position, you’re ready to split the video. With the video layer still selected, look for the scissors icon in the options menu at the bottom or the top of the screen. This icon represents the “split” tool. Tap on the scissors icon, and Alight Motion will divide the video into two separate clips at the position of the playhead. Each segment will now be its own layer in the timeline, allowing you to edit them individually.
6. Adjust or Delete
Now that the video is split into two (or more) clips, you can edit them as needed. You can adjust the position of the clips, apply effects, or delete any unwanted sections. To delete a clip, simply tap on it in the timeline and select the delete option (usually represented by a trash bin icon). You can also add transitions or animations between the clips if desired.
By following these steps, you can easily split and edit your video in Alight Motion, allowing you to work with specific sections of the video independently.
