How to Trim a Video in Alight Motion?
To trim a video in Alight Motion, follow these steps.
- Open the Project: First, launch the Alight Motion app and open the project containing the video you want to edit. If you’re starting a new project, tap on the “+” icon to create a new one, and then import the video you want to work on. Make sure your video is visible in the timeline at the bottom of the screen, which is where all the editing actions will happen.
- Select the Video Layer: Once your video is in the timeline, you need to select the specific video layer you want to trim. The timeline shows all your layers stacked horizontally, and each one represents a different element (like video, audio, or effects). Tap on the video clip to highlight it. This will open the editing options for that specific layer, allowing you to perform various actions like trimming, splitting, or adding effects.
- Move the Playhead: The playhead is a vertical line that moves across the timeline and indicates the current position in the video. To trim your video, you need to place the playhead at the exact point where you want to either start or end the clip. You can drag the playhead manually or use the preview controls to fine-tune its position. Zooming in on the timeline can help you achieve more precise positioning if needed, especially for small adjustments.
- Split the Video: Once the playhead is in the correct position, tap on the video clip and look for the scissors icon in the toolbar. This icon allows you to split the video at the playhead’s position. When you tap on it, your video will be divided into two separate clips: one before the playhead position and the other after. This split lets you isolate the part you want to trim out and gives you more flexibility to edit the video.
- Delete Unwanted Sections: Now that you’ve split the video, you’ll have multiple sections on your timeline. To remove a section of the video that you no longer need, tap on the clip you want to delete. Once the clip is selected, tap on the trash can icon that appears on the toolbar, and the clip will be removed from the timeline. If there are multiple unwanted clips, repeat the same process for each one until you’ve deleted all the unnecessary portions of the video.
- Adjust the Remaining Clips: After trimming and deleting the unwanted sections, you can adjust the remaining clips on the timeline. You can drag them left or right to reposition them and make sure the video flows smoothly. If you need to add transitions between clips or make further edits, such as adding effects or adjusting the timing, this is where you can fine-tune your video.
- Preview & Export: Once you’ve finished trimming and adjusting your video, it’s a good idea to preview it to ensure everything looks good. Press the play button in the preview window to watch the video from the beginning to the end. If you’re satisfied with the result, it’s time to export your video. Tap on the export icon in the top-right corner of the screen, and choose your desired resolution, frame rate, and file format. Once you’ve made your selection, press the export button, and the app will process your video and save it to your device.
By following these steps, you can easily trim your video in Alight Motion and make any necessary adjustments to create the perfect edit.
