How to Trim Videos With Kinemaster?
To trim videos using Kinemaster, follow these steps.
1. Open Kinemaster
Start by launching the Kinemaster app on your smartphone or tablet. Once it opens, you’ll be greeted with the main interface. If this is your first time using Kinemaster, you might need to grant the app permissions to access your media files, such as photos and videos. Make sure to allow these permissions so you can work with your videos seamlessly.
2. Create a New Project
To begin editing, tap the “+” (Create New Project) button. Kinemaster will prompt you to choose the aspect ratio for your project. The aspect ratio determines the dimensions of the video frame. For example:
- 16:9 is ideal for YouTube or widescreen content.
- 9:16 is great for Instagram Stories, TikTok, or vertical videos.
- 1:1 works well for Instagram posts or square-format videos.
Choose the format that fits your needs, and you’ll be directed to the editing interface.
3. Import Your Video
In the editing interface, tap the “Media” button (usually on the left side of the screen) to open your media browser. Navigate through your folders to find the video you want to trim. Once located, tap on the video, and it will be added to your project timeline at the bottom of the screen. This timeline is where all your editing will take place.
4. Select the Video on the Timeline
The video you imported will appear as a rectangular clip in the timeline. Tap on the clip to select it. When selected, it will be highlighted, and editing tools (like trimming, splitting, and adjusting properties) will become available above or beside the timeline.
5. Trim the Video
This is the most crucial step for cutting unnecessary parts of your video.
- To Trim from the Start: If you want to remove the beginning part of the video, tap the clip to select it. Then, drag the left edge of the clip towards the right to shorten it.
- To Trim from the End: If you want to cut the ending of the video, drag the right edge of the clip towards the left.
- To Split the Video: If you need to remove a section from the middle, first move the playhead (a vertical line on the timeline) to the exact point where you want to make a cut. Then tap the scissors icon and select “Split at Playhead”. This action will divide the clip into two separate parts. You can then delete or trim the unwanted section by tapping on it and selecting the delete button.
Take your time during this process, as trimming too much or too little can affect your final video.
6. Preview the Video
After trimming, play back your video to see the results. Use the preview window, which is located at the top of the screen, to watch the edited video. Drag the playhead back to the start and press play to ensure the video flows smoothly and that no crucial parts were accidentally trimmed.
