VN Video Editor Beginner Guide

Following is the beginner’s guide for using the VN Video Editor.

1. Download and Setup

VN Video Editor is a versatile, free editing app available for both Android and iOS devices. Begin by downloading the app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Once installed, open the app, and you’ll be prompted to either log in or create an account. You can sign up using your email address or social media accounts. While it’s not mandatory to create an account to start editing, doing so can unlock additional features like cloud backup and cross-device access. The interface is user-friendly, making it an excellent choice for beginners.

2. Create a New Project

To start a project, tap the “+” icon prominently displayed on the main screen. You’ll then need to select an aspect ratio, which determines the dimensions of your video. Common ratios include 16:9 for YouTube, 9:16 for Instagram Stories or TikTok, and 1:1 for Instagram posts. Selecting the right ratio ensures your video looks good on the platform you’re targeting. Once selected, you’ll be taken to the editing timeline where the magic happens.

3. Import Media

Importing media is straightforward. Tap the Import button to access your device’s gallery. Select the photos, videos, or music you want to use in your project. VN Editor allows you to pick multiple clips at once, arranging them in the order they will appear in your video. This step is essential because the quality of your raw footage greatly affects the final outcome. After choosing your files, tap Next, and the selected media will populate the editing timeline.

4. Basic Editing Tools

VN Video Editor is equipped with intuitive basic tools that make video editing simple.

  • Trimming and Splitting: Tap on a video clip in the timeline to reveal editing options. Use the trim handles on both ends of a clip to shorten it. For splitting, position the playhead (the vertical line that indicates where you are on the timeline) where you want the split, and select the Split option. This is especially useful for removing unwanted sections or dividing a long clip into smaller segments.
  • Text and Titles: To add text, tap the T icon. This opens a menu where you can customize fonts, colors, and animations. Text can enhance your video by adding context, captions, or titles.
  • Music and Audio: Tap the music icon to add a soundtrack or background music. VN lets you import your own tracks or use music from its library. You can adjust the timing and volume of the audio to match your video.

5. Advanced Features

Once you’re comfortable with basic edits, explore VN’s advanced tools.

  • Speed Control: Adjusting the playback speed of clips can create dramatic effects. Select a clip, tap the speed icon, and drag the slider to slow it down for cinematic impact or speed it up for a time-lapse effect.
  • Audio Editing: You can fine-tune audio elements by tapping on the audio waveform. Adjust the volume, add fade-ins or fade-outs, or mute specific parts of the video to focus on narration or effects.
  • Keyframes: Keyframes allow for precise animation and movement within your video. For example, you can zoom in on an object or pan across a scene. To use keyframes, select a clip, tap the Keyframe icon, and set points where changes like position, scale, or opacity occur.

6. Preview and Export

Before finalizing your video, it’s crucial to preview it to ensure everything looks and sounds as intended. Tap the Play button to view the video on the timeline. Look for errors like abrupt cuts, mismatched audio, or inconsistent effects. When satisfied, tap the Export button in the top right corner. VN Video Editor provides various export options, including resolutions like 1080p or 4K, depending on your needs. You can also adjust the frame rate and bitrate for optimal quality and file size. Once configured, tap Export again, and the video will be saved to your gallery.

7. Sharing Your Video

After exporting, VN makes it easy to share your video directly. You can upload it to platforms like YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook straight from the app. Alternatively, save the video to your device’s gallery for future use. Sharing your creation is the final step in the process, allowing you to showcase your editing skills and creativity.

With its user-friendly interface and a wide range of tools, VN Video Editor is a powerful option for beginners and experienced editors alike. Practice these steps to enhance your video editing skills and create professional-looking content effortlessly.
